Once, they had a home — a mighty forest without end. But one day, disaster arrived.
At first, people in suits began appearing at the edge of the woods, talking animatedly among themselves. Soon, more and more of them came; they brought heavy machinery and started uprooting trees. Within a few months, the former forest was unrecognizable — in its place rose blocks of housing.
What were the magical creatures to do, those who had always called the forest their home?
Stump and Berry — two trolls — had been inseparable since childhood. In a sense, one might even have called them a couple, but with all their mischief and tricks, they never had time to think about the nature of their relationship.
When the trouble began, they first hid in piles of construction debris, hoping the forest would miraculously return to life and everything would fall back into place. But no miracle came.
So Stump and Berry decided to try their luck in the big city. They needed a new home, and they were burning with curiosity to see how the human world lived.
But in the big city, surviving is no easy task.
Stump and Berry realized they had to find work. On an old utility pole hung a notice: “Trolls wanted.”
“This is our chance!” they thought, and rushed off to the interview.
In a stuffy office, behind endless rows of desks with laptops and smartphones, sat hundreds of other refugees from the magical forest. Among them were a few ordinary people too.
“Welcome to our troll factory!” cried the manager cheerfully — a young man with dyed hair, wearing a trendy T-shirt with a bright print.
And so Stump and Berry became internet trolls — and countless unbelievable adventures awaited them.
Next time you come across a silly comment on Facebook or X, remember: it just might be one of them. Please, pass along my greetings.
